Providing compassionate, one-on-one recreation therapy and holistic nutrition services designed to enhance well-being, encourage personal growth, and foster meaningful connections.

How Can We Help?

At Nourish Wellness & Recreation Therapy, our mission is to foster meaningful living through compassionate, one-on-one recreational therapy. We provide personalized, engaging activities tailored to each individual’s unique interests, abilities, and goals—fostering connection, comfort, and a sense of purpose without the overwhelm of group settings. Every session is designed to meet people where they are, honoring their story and supporting their well-being with dignity and respect.

What is Recreation Therapy?

Recreation therapy is a holistic, person-centered approach to health and well-being that uses meaningful activities to support physical, emotional, cognitive, and social functioning. As a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), we can design and guide experiences such as art, music, gardening, cooking, exercise, mindfulness, and more based on each individual’s unique interests, abilities, and goals.

The purpose is to inspire joy, strengthen connection, encourage independence, and support meaningful living—helping people not just live, but truly thrive.

Client Journey

1

Discovery Call

Choosing the right support is a deeply personal decision. That’s why we offer a free, no-obligation discovery call to get to know you, answer your questions, and discuss how my personalized recreation therapy and/or holistic nutrition services can best support your unique needs.

2

Client Intake

To provide personalized and effective support through recreation therapy, nutrition, or a combination of both, we begin with a comprehensive intake process. This allows us to gain a full understanding of each individual’s abilities, interests, and needs so we can design tailored activities and/or nutrition plans that promote engagement, growth, and overall well-being. During this process, personalized goals are created to guide sessions and ensure that every step supports unique needs and progress.

Hi, I’m Jen Verdu — a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and Board-Certified Holistic Nutritionist. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science with an emphasis in Nutrition Education from San Jose State University and have been working in recreation therapy since 2008, earning my CTRS credential in 2012.

I’ve completed extensive coursework in Recreation Therapy at California State University East Bay and bring a well-rounded background in clinical, community, and rehab settings. Over the years, I’ve supported individuals in skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation programs, assisted and independent living, adult day health centers, and through one-on-one therapeutic care.

My experience spans rehabilitation and community settings, including skilled nursing facilities, where I’ve supported individuals with dementia, mental health conditions, stroke recovery, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), Parkinson’s disease, and other complex needs. I bring this background into my private practice with a passion for enhancing quality of life through the integration of recreation therapy and holistic nutrition.

My approach is personalized and compassionate, drawing on evidence-based practices to support cognitive, social, physical, spiritual, and leisure well-being—helping individuals live with greater connection and fulfillment.
